Our therapists are also able to work with family doctors, psychiatrists, case managers, and any other support people our clients might have to ensure continuity of care and the best possible outcomes.

Appointments

Compass Counseling is open for counseling services in Weston, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. We are open for appointments Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The majority of our therapists also offer later afternoon appointments and evening hours by appointment.

The receptionist will send you paperwork through your online client portal. We will schedule an appointment for you once the paperwork is completed. Please be sure to take a picture of your insurance card in your portal as part of initial paperwork completion.

Your therapist will greet you and escort you to a comfortable home-like office and answer any questions you may have about the paperwork you completed. An assessment will then be completed to determine the appropriate course of treatment. This assessment will include detailed information about what brings you to therapy, symptoms, and personal history. This will allow your therapist to custom design your treatment. Your therapist will give you an opinion for treatment and schedule a return appointment as needed.

Our receptionist is available to schedule appointments and answer any questions you might have regarding appointments.

Alyssa holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and has over 5 years working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system with substance use disorders. Alyssa also holds a substance abuse certification, and has experience in facilitating AODA and trauma focused groups. Alyssa enjoys working with families, and individuals of all ages.

Angie is passionate about helping children and families, trauma survivors, and individuals with disabilities. Carmen holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Vermont University and is dually licensed in both Substance Abuse and Clinical Mental Health Counseling.   She completed her internships at Compass Counseling and at ACS Clinical Services.  She has experience working with anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, and addictions.  Carmen also has experience working in Treatment Court Programs with adults dealing with substance abuse and legal issues.  Carmen uses a strengths-based, person-centered approach to work with adolescents and adults in developing healthy coping skills toward mental wellness.

Dana received her Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, she also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She completed her internship with Compass Counseling. Dana has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who experience anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and anger.

Dana has previously worked in case management with severe mental illness and homeless population and as a youth counselor with dually diagnosed children and adolescents. She is passionate about helping individuals identify healthy coping skills and build self-esteem and self-worth. Dana strives to help people reach their full potential and cope with the difficulties of this complex world. She has experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Hannah has her Master’s degree in Social Work and Mental Health from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Family Studies from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Hannah previously worked providing individual and group therapy to clients at the inpatient and residential levels of care. She works primarily with adults. She has experience and knowledge navigating the child welfare system, working with both biological and foster parents. Hazel also has experience with faith-based counseling for clients that wish to incorporate their beliefs into their treatment services.

She has over 10 years of experience working with children in daycare and school settings and specializes in counseling children of all ages. Jessi uses an integrated psychotherapy approach with children and their families to promote a healthy, positive sense of self by offering individualized techniques that empower clients to reach their goals.

Although Jessi specializes with children and families, she also treats young adults and adults and enjoys learning new techniques to broaden her range of knowledge in the psychology field to assist each unique client.

Jessica is a licensed marriage and family therapist in training and a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Jessica completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in February 2012 from the University of Phoenix and Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2016. Jessica began her internship with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consulting LLC in 2014 and completed it in 2016 at Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consulting LLC.

Jessica was trained in the area of Systems Theory in which the focus is more on the whole system/family rather than the problem or issue pertaining to one particular person. Jessica is also trained in TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention). She is specialized in General Family Therapy and enjoys working with couples, families, and children of all ages, particularly ages 7-15.

Jessica uses a variety of approaches to help her clients, depending on individual needs. Juel began her career in the mental health field in Milwaukee where she worked in residential treatment, intensive in home care coordination, and provided intensive in home therapy services. In 2002 Juel transitioned to Wood County, 2007 Portage County, and in 2012 Marathon County where Juel has provided Mental Health Therapy.

She has over 11 years working in mental health in the areas of Residential Treatment, Outpatient Mental Health, College Counseling and Employee Assistance Programs. Liz uses a holistic, strength-based approach to therapy when working with all ages and areas of concern. She is trained in EMDR which is used to help eleviate symptoms of trauma. She also uses other treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfullness.

She uses a Person-Centered Approach meeting clients where they are along their journey as well as allowing nonjudgmental exploration of their barriers and inner strengths developing healthy coping skills and choices necessary to be their best self and lead quality lives.

Compass Counseling accepts most insurance including BadgerCare. As a courtesy to our clients, we will bill your insurance directly. Please contact your insurance company to verify your benefits and to learn more about your deductible and or copays.

We also accept self-payment for those clients who do not have insurance and will work with you to set up payment plans for self-payment and co-pays.
